Lisa Fletcher becomes the host and anchor of “The Stream”, a daily interactive news and talk show on the Al Jazerra English Network. Andrea Fujii has joined KCBS in Los Angeles as a freelance reporter. She was previously a reporter and fill-in anchor for WJZ in Baltimore. Carla Wade to weekend evening anchor and reporter for WFAA in Dallas.  For the last three years, Carla has been a reporter and fill-in anchor for KOCO in Oklahoma City. Shelley Walcott becomes primary anchor for WMUR in Manchester.  Previously, she anchored weekends for WTMJ in Milwaukee. Dana Fowle renews her agreement as investigative reporter with WAGA in Atlanta. Jeff Vaughn returns to Detroit, joining Scripps’ WXYZ as 5pm anchor and auto/business reporter. Deborah Bowden renews her agreement as weekend anchor with WTVT in Tampa. Sheldon Fox returns home to Miami, joining WSVN as a general assignment reporter.  Hema Mullur signs a new contract with KDVR in Denver as the 10pm anchor. George Waldenberger joins WFTV in Orlando as weekend meteorologist.  Previously, George was the weekend meteorologist for KSHB in Kansas City. Kristin Kane joins Bright House Network’s Central Florida News 13 as weekend anchor.  For the past two years, Kristin was a reporter and fill-in anchor for KRIV in Houston. Anthony DiLorenzo joins WFTV in Orlando as a general assignment reporter.  Previously, he was a reporter for WTIC in Hartford. Beth Vaughn moves to Indianapolis as morning anchor for WRTV.  Beth was previously a reporter for KSHB in Kansas City. Jessica Kartalija renews her agreement with WJZ in Baltimore as noon anchor and reporter. Morgan Chesky moves to Oklahoma City as weekend anchor and reporter for KOCO.  Previously, Morgan was a reporter and fill-in anchor for KVUE in Austin. Jared Werksma renews his agreement with WWMT in Kalamazoo as a reporter. Tracey McCain renews her agreement with WFMY in Greensboro as morning field anchor and reporter and noon anchor. Carina Corral joins KSEE as morning anchor in Fresno.  Christina Arangio renews her agreement with WTEN in Albany as morning and noon anchor.

Popular anchor Jane McGarry hasn’t been on TV since May 2012, after pleading no guilty to a DWI charge and leaving KXAS-TV. But she’s set to hit TV screens again on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas, where she will be presenting stories in a segment called “Starting Over with Jane McGarry,”


Life Better Now

For the past five years, only KSTP meteorologist Ken Barlow's immediate family has been aware of a health challenge with which he's been living (Bi-Polar Disorder). His disclosure moved actor Glenn Close to send an e-mail that read, in part: "I just wanted to say thank you for having the courage to say the scary words out loud. Person-by-person... story-by-story, we'll reach the tipping point."


Hearst Ups Barbara Maushard

Barbara Maushard, who since 2008 has served as a Vice President, News, for Hearst Television Inc., based at the company’s New York headquarters, will succeed Brian Bracco in oversight of the company’s corporate news efforts. In her expanded role, Maushard will lead Hearst Television’s news product -- on-air, online and on mobile platforms.

Mistake of The Year

The Poynter Institute released its “Regret The Error” award for 2012 on Wednesday. This year, the dubious honor is shared by Fox News Channel and CNN for incorrectly broadcasting that the Supreme Court had declared the individual mandate within the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 unconstitutional when, in fact, they upheld the mandate as a tax.


The Media General Payback

Hinting at its new life as a pure-play broadcaster, Media General is giving those who lost income during a 2011 furlough program a cash payment equal to up to five days of pay.
Employees who were furloughed for five days or more receive the full five-day bonus.


Sinclair Cleans House

Sinclair closed on the six Newport stations Dec. 3, resulting in the departures of three general managers: Les Vann at WKRC Cincinnati, Jackie Rutledge at WOAI San Antonio, and Holly Steuart at WHP in Harrisburg.



WGN Chicago has some explaining to do after reporting live the morning of Friday, Nov. 30, on a plane crash on the South Side of the city, which turned out to be a scene being shot for NBC drama Chicago Fire.  The Chicago Tribune reports on its corporate sibling: "We are just getting word that this is being shot as part of a TV show," anchor Larry Potash told viewers.
