Frank N. Magid, the consultant who transformed the face of television news in the 1970s, died Friday in Santa Barbara, Calif., at age 78.
Magid, the founder of Frank N. Magid Associates, was the first in the business to use market research to redesign TV newscasts, infusing them with light features and friendly banter to make them more appealing to viewers. More
